Our Mission...

To empower individuals and families to eliminate homelessness, joblessness, and hunger by teaching self-reliance, independence, and self-discipline.

Home of the Sparrow has two shelters in McHenry County - one in McHenry and one in Crystal Lake. The McHenry shelter has four individual, two-bedroom units for mothers with teenage sons. Home of the Sparrow has a three-flat apartment building in McHenry for graduates of the transitional shelter program. Home of the Sparrow has two scattered site transitional apartments in McHenry County. HUD funds these apartments. Capacity of Home of the Sparrow’s shelters and apartments per night is 66-68.
